What to expect
Initial Consultation:
I will spend time with you discussing your reasons for wanting reflexology treatments and this will include reviewing the information you have provided in your medical history. This is to ensure that you receive the best treatment possible. We will also discuss a treatment plan suitable for your requirements.
The treatment itself:
This takes place in my Lafuma reflexology chair. The chair is reclined to aid your relaxation and allow me to access your feet to provide your treatment. If you are receiving hand reflexology you can choose whether you wish to remain in a seated position or to be reclined. I will provide blankets, pillows and towels to use during the treatment to aid your comfort. Depending on the treatment you have opted for the session will last between 30-90 minutes inclusive of your consultation time. During the treatment I will apply a massage medium to your feet or hands (a balm or oil) and apply varying pressure to the reflex points. If you find that any area is sensitive at any time please let me know. Reflexology places the body into deep relaxation so it is usual for clients to fall asleep so if this happens please do not feel embarrassed, I’m used to it!
Following the treatment:
You will be given a few minutes to relax at the end of your treatment and provided with a glass of water. I will discuss with you any areas of sensitivity that I have found during the treatment and this is your opportunity to ask questions about the findings. Your next appointment can be booked at this time.
It is important that you listen to your body and try to continue with the relaxation following your treatment. It is also important that you drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins that have been released during the treatment.
You should be aware that symptoms can worsen following a treatment. For example, if you have the start of a cold it is possible that following a reflexology treatment your symptoms will become worse, however the length of the cold may be shorter than normal.
